APRIL CALENDAR MAY CALENDAR
For those confident and safe to complete their individual BODYSYSTEM program in our rehab studio independently and without supervision.

  • A 1:1 with one of our Practitioners is required to get you started. This consult refines your current prescribed program and ensures you are familiar with using the facility safely and independently. Your first week is included in the cost of your 1:1 consult.
  • You can attend during our opening times of 8.30am-6pm Mon-Fri. You do not need to book an appointment. Block out times are noted on our monthly calendars.
  • A 1:1 review of your program is required at minimum every 6 months to ensure your exercise prescription remains optimal for your goals.
  • For advice on form or progressions with your existing program you can do that periodically in a small group supervised session. Book a 1:1 session if you need a full program review.
  • Ask your practitioner if this service is right for you.
  • Note: this is the only service not claimable by private health extras cover on the day. Some funds may provide a rebate on Rehab gym costs directly.

GLA:D®

BODYSYSTEM has partnered with LaTrobe University to offer the GLA:D® Australia program.  GLA:D® Australia is a not for profit initiative lead by LaTrobe University.

GLA:D®  is an education and exercise program developed by researchers in Denmark for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms.

Approximately 20,000 people in Scandinavia have reduced pain and improved their quality of life by participation in the GLA:D®  Program.

Current national and international clinical guidelines recommend patient education, exercise and weight loss as first line treatment for osteoarthritis.

GLA:D® Australia training consists of:
- An initial appointment explaining the program and measure your current functional ability.
- 2 x Education sessions which teach you about OA, its risk factors, treatment options and self management strategies.
- Group exercise sessions twice a week for six weeks to improve your control of the joint, your confidence in the joint and your strength.
-  A review at 3 months with your physiotherapist to discuss progress and goals and remeasure your functional ability.
-  Completion of a questionnaire on registration with the program and then again at 3 months and 12 months after registration to measure changes in areas such as pain, function, quality of life and medication use.

Supervised Sessions

Supervised Individual Sessions
Supervised Individual Sessions are for you if you are after a customised exercise program that addresses your specific problems.

The supervised individual session starts with a one hour, one on one gym session with a Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist who will help create your own special program. You are also taught how to use the specialised equipment safely.
Once a program is created for you, you can continue to perform your exercises under individual supervision of a physiotherapist, or in an small group session when you are more independent.
Your physiotherapist or exercise physiologist will be supervising only you and no one else during the individual sessions.

Supervised Small Group Rehab Sessions
Supervised Small Group Rehab sessions are 60 minute scheduled periods that you can join once you are more independent with your program.
You can start doing the supervised small group rehab sessions after you have completed a one hour Supervised Individual Rehab Session with one of our physiotherapists or exercise physiologists.
A physiotherapist or exercise physiologist will be available to supervise up to 3 people in the rehab studio and can progress your program as needed.
