Taylor completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science at University of Tasmania in 2016. While completing his undergraduate degree Taylor rowed at a high level, representing Australia on multiple occasions. After having to retire from rowing due to injury, Taylor undertook postgraduate study to become an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. He completed a Graduate Diploma of Exercise Science in 2018 from Griffith University in Queensland.
In addition to his Exercise Physiology accreditation, Taylor is also accredited as a Australian Strength and Conditioning Association Level 2 Strength and Condition Coach.
Taylor is currently a member of Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA).
Taylor has a special interests:

- Sport specific performance optimisation and injury prevention (especially rowers)
- Strength & Conditioning for developing athletes, elite athletes and masters athletes
- Load managing individuals return to sport/work/physical activity following illness or injury
